2012 Fiesta of Five Flags

2012 Fiesta of Five Flags
In 1559 Don Tristan de Luna established Pensacola as the first European settlement in the new world. Five different flags have since flown over Pensacola including Spanish, French, British, Confederate, and American. The 10 day long Fiesta of Five Flags is held every year to celebrate this historic founding. With the help of the volunteer manpower of the Fiesta Forces, the Fiesta of Five Flags features activities and events for all ages.
This year’s 63rd annual celebration officially runs from May 31st through June 9th with both a boat parade and street parade, parties, contests as well as a coronation ceremony for De Luna and his court. Other events begin in mid April and run through September ending with the 35th Annual Pensacola Seafood Festival September 28th - 30th. The Seafood Festival concludes the Fiesta of Five Flags with great seafood, arts, crafts and music. The final event is the Pensacola Seafood 5K Run/Walk that also begins the fall racing season.
